Wings for Life World Run is one of the biggest charity marathons in the world, starting in the same time in 33 countries. This year, the event took place on the 3rd of May, and it’s main goal was to fund scientific research and clinical trials around the globe aimed at healing spinal cord injuries. 100% of the entry fees goes to life-changing research projects, adding up to more than 4 million Euro this year.

At Roweb we actively encourages our colleagues to get involved in sports and lead a healthy and balanced life. This was the first year Roweb runners gathered into a team and signed up for the Wings for Life World Run, joining 1600 participants in Bucharest, and more than 70,000 worldwide.

Participants in the Bucharest Wings for Life World Run event ran on a tarmac track with mild level differences terrain, in a green environment on the outskirts of the Romanian capital. The atmosphere was great, a lot of positive energy, nice people, very determined participants and a fabulous landscape, through villages, forests and fields of canola. The runners enjoyed a gentle weather temperature of about 25°C but had to endure a high level of air humidity which decreased their effort capacity. Our team’s results were great – taking into consideration all of them are recreational runners – sharing a total of 82 KM between them. Each of our members managed to beat their personal records and have a great time doing this.

Meet our Roweb participants to this event: Stefan – a senior programmer with incredible determination –  was our champion on the tarmac, running almost 20 km. Cosmin – ourathlete programmer, who embraces a lot of sports activities in his spare time. Sorin – another senior programmer, has great endurance and manages to find time for sports activities although he has a very busy working schedule. Bogdan – a very talented young programmer who always knows how to do a great job at work with a smile on his face. And last but not least, Andrei, a programmer in the “office “ and “ a referee “ on the football pitch, did a great job in the Wings For Life World Run Bucharest event.
