Our client

Keep Britain Tidy, a promoter of important environmental campaigns since 1954, started Love Parks Week in 2006 with the aim to encourage people to visit, enjoy and take pride in their local parks and green spaces. Love Parks is now a year round campaign, based on the driving message that parks and green spaces are essential to healthy, happy and strong communities.

Client's need

Our client already had a large base of users and they needed to engage them better, encourage them to become more involved in the campaign and interact with each other. They wanted to achieve this by implementing a custom social network and an event planning module into their website.

Our approach

We had been collaborating with the client for two years - on their Keep Britain Tidy portal - and we were already their dedicated software provider when they decided to improve as well. They trusted us to deliver the solutions for their requirements, by customizing our proprietary Online Portal Solution and integrating it with the additional modules and optimizing its performance on mobile devices. We also began developing an iOS and an Android mobile apps, to make it even easier to engage users at any time. 


We customized and implemented our own internally developed Online Portal Solution, including a social network and an event planning module. The technologies we used were ASP.NET, SQL Server, Twitter Bootstrap, UI for ASP.NET AJAX, WebAPI, SignalR and jQuery.

Our client's database included tens of thousands of users and this represented a challenge for the website's performance. We were able to overcome this obstacle by optimizing the portal's speed while supporting a large number of concurrent users. We used the minimum necessary amount of hardware resources, this way achieving significant operational cost savings for our client.

We also integrated our solution with their existing Green Flag application, importing their legacy data and adapting it to the new platform.
